What has been going on at Resquip Limited (formally Big Beasts Limited) ?
First, a little history.
Formed in May 2007, The Big Beast Company brought together the various craft and business skills of its partners, Steve Merchant and Paul Barrett-Brown. With over sixty years experience between them of designing and making props, models, sets, creatures, costumes, etc. for film, TV, theatre, museums, theme parks, and the like, the partners were confident that a small company (The Big Beast Company www.big-beasts.com ) specialising in this niche market would be sustainable, and also have the potential for growth. In 2008, the opportunity to design, develop, and build a life-sized, fully articulated, mannequin horse for use as a dummy, as required by the Fire and Rescue Services for large animal rescue training, provided both an additional revenue stream and a secure base from which to ‘grow’ the company. Big Beasts Limited was launched as an independent arm to promote and supply this new and exciting product. Within six months of its launch, Big Beasts Limited had sold five of these training mannequin horses, we named him 'Randy', across the UK. 2009 proved to be a year of opportunity for Big Beasts Limited. Not only did Randy sell well but, thanks to his excellent performance 'in the field', we received many requests for us to make other specialised training aids that were either not yet available or, where they existed, had limited functionality and thus needed further development.
And now, The News.
With the ever-increasing demand for lifelike human dummies for use in Disaster Scenarios and the need for a realistic Bariaric dummy to be used for morbidly obese client handling and movement training, it seemed appropriate for us to change the name of this side of our business from 'Big Beasts Limited' to something that might reflect more accurately the work that we now undertake. With Rescue, and Rescue Training Equipment, as our focus, we believe the name 'Resquip Limited' to be appropriate.
The parent organisation, The Big Beast Company, will continue to design, make, and supply bespoke models, creatures, sets, installations, props, and effects to the media, museums, heritage and theme parks, advertising, television, and film industries. They will contine to serve the entertainment, exhibition, and leisure sectors.
